Dementia Awareness (dem-aware)

Description
This course is intended to deliver to the candidate an overview of Dementia that adds depth and detail in offering an overview of what Dementia is and how it affects the person and those around them.

It is a short on-line course aimed at those working within areas where a knowledge of Dementia is relevant to practice, but also to others wishing to understand this devastating disorder, such as: those having a family member with the condition, teachers in primary/secondary education and for generally enhanced understanding.

The course provides the candidate with an overview of Dementia, how it affects the individual, the incidence of it across the UK and different age groups, a classification system and an overview of the most common types of this challenging disorder.

It also shares some interventions that are thought to offer some help to the person and for those that care for them, including psychosocial techniques that can be embedded in the persons’ home and interactions with them.
